The Oliva Cigar Company had its beginnings in 1886 when patriarch, Melanio Oliva grew his first tobacco plants in the Pinar del rio region of Cuba. After the Great War Melanio reignited his tobacco growing business, and in 1920 his son Facundo Oliva took over operations.

With growing revolutionary pressure in Cuba, Melanio’s Grandson, Gilberto Oliva, began travelling in search of a land with perfect climate and ideal conditions for growing cigar tobacco leaves. The aim was to reproduce cigars with the distinctive Cuban taste. He visited Panama, Honduras, Mexico and ventured as far as the Philippines in his quest. 

Now Oliva Cigars have become a house-hold name and each year listed in the top cigars of the year. Most cigar lovers have crossed paths with an Oliva and you will always find a stick or 10 of Oliva Cigars in their humidor.
