Montecristo Cigars were first rolled in Havana in 1935 when Alonso Menendez acquired the Particulares Factory in Cuba and created the Montecristo brand. This famous Montecristo Cuban cigar brand was inspired by the hero in Alexandre Dumas’ novel the Count of Montecristo. It has been said that the ‘torcedores’ or cigar rollers were read chapters of the book while hand-rolling what now has become arguably the best-known and most appreciated cuban cigars in the world.
One of the most popular sticks is the Montecristo No 4, a 5 ⅛” x 43 petite corona that has scored as high as 93 points and never below 89 points. The Montecristo No 2 Cigar on the hand is the most highly rated Cuban of all time. At 6 ⅛“ x 52 RG it’s quite a beast and loved by cigar smokers all over the world. Its little sister is the Montecristo Petit No 2. Two other Montecristo cigars that are adored by connoisseurs are the Montecristo Edmundo and its little brother, the Montecristo Petit Edmundo
